Creating Lifelong Patients
Because a lifetime of good oral health begins in childhood, Dr. Donald is especially fond of seeing younger patients. With gentle care and compassion, he go out of their way to make children feel comfortable in the dental chair so that they are actually excited to see the dentist every six months. Many adult dental phobias originate in childhood, often due to a lack of regular dental care or a traumatic experience.
By seeing Dr. Donald regularly for checkups and cleanings, your child will learn that dental care is safe, nurturing, and even fun. For added relaxation, we have a game room and kids movies in all exam rooms to both entertain and distract your child during cleanings and other dental procedures.
Oral Hygiene Education
One of our main tasks in pediatric dental care is educating you and your child about proper hygiene techniques. Establishing good oral habits early increases the likelihood that your child will maintain healthy teeth for life. At every visit, we will paint a solution on your child’s teeth that shows areas he or she may have missed during brushing. We will then demonstrate brushing techniques and explain how certain foods and drinks may harm their teeth. Parents are always welcome in the exam rooms so they can remain up-to-date regarding their child’s dental health.
Childhood Dental Milestones
We track your child’s progress with an electronic chart to ensure that all dental milestones are on target, from tooth eruption to loss of baby teeth. We use low-radiation digital X-rays to help us document and monitor the progression of oral health issues. If problems with tooth eruption or jaw development occur, we will catch them at the earliest stages to ensure faster and more efficient treatment. Dr. Donald's goal is to set your child on the road to exceptional oral health with preventive care and early detection.
